Boating / Lupin Love / Jam-boree!!!

Sunday morning we enjoyed a very lazy morning puttering around... but the afternoon brought something else entirely.

We went off to see a friend's puppy (soooo cute, but I must say, Koda is enough puppy for me still, thank God). I HAD TO STOP along the way back to take pictures of the road side flowers. And yes, a bit of lupin love.

The pink flower in the first few pictures is called "horsma"

A few lupins made it with us to my parent's house, where we are once again dog sitting. This time it's only for a few days, but I'm tempted to make it a longer stay since I received a phone call that they are RIPPING OUR PATIO UP! Apparently they're doing repairs to some pipe that runs right under the patios... Go figure.

We also managed to get out to the garden yesterday for a brief visit. I just wanted rhubarb for my jamboree and to see if the strawberries were ripe yet. No they weren't. :(
How we got to the garden is rather interesting though. We took Patches there. Patches is the boat my husband has been fixing for the past few months and Patches has a very finicky motor. Let me just say, that I am not one for boating. But I am even less so, when the motor dies 3 times in one trip across the lake and you have to row in the rain... Haha, I have to get back on the horse though and maybe if the weather isn't terrible tomorrow, we'll go to the garden with Patches again...

Anywho, garden progress:

I can't WAIT!

Loving it!

Peas that survived the pheasants.

My mom's long-awaited Sweet Williams

Tiny cucumber plants.

Woohoo fresh grown organic lettuce!

After the Patches incident, I spent the rest of the evening on the green comfy chair in the craft room and crocheted my blanket. I love that it's big enough to keep me warm while I crochet. It's a really thick and chunky blanket so it's definitely toasty. :)

This morning I have been enjoying my mom's pansies and her morning glory in the window. I love the shape of the leaves, it's a heart!! How ingenious of nature...

She even has a clematis growing!

...And a little herb box!

Here's the windowsill of the craft room. :)

This one is in the kitchen.

I also dabbled in jam making. It's my first time ever and I don't think I did it quite right. I should have perhaps let it reduce longer? It's still rather juicy and I'm hoping for some more congealing action. Oh well, it tastes delicious and that is what counts the most. And it's not like it is going to last long anyway, lol. Rhubarb jam with just a pinch of raspberry juice for some color. Love it! I think next time though, I might just do plain rhubarb.

It smells like June in a jar.

I have bread just out of the oven too. My first time ever making bread in a bread pan (I love rolls, or buns or whatever). I would take a picture, but my camera has just died after uploading this post's pictures. Go figure, eh.

My mom is the best! I have been dying to buy this yarn (Novita papukaija) . It's series of wool yarn that are inspired by birds. Like there are gorgeous purples etc for the dove and so on. I love love love this colorful one, it's inspired by parrots.

I was going to buy it at the end of summer as a treat to myself for working so hard, but my mom gave in and bought me some since she saw it on sale. (Thanks Ă„iti!!!) I love it so much, I can't stop fondling it. Lol, I don't even want to start a project with it yet, because I want to wait for the perfect idea. I have already been toying around with making slippers or scarf or even a baby blanket. Ah, it's just so pretty...such happy colors! Don't you love when something as simple as yarn can make you so happy?! :)

Well, I am going to enjoy my Monday evening with the hubby and probably either crocheting or looking for recipes to use nutella in. Lol.

Thanks for reading, I'm sure I'll be back soon.
