Dirt, yarn and my happy moments

Busy I have been since my last post. And not much time to spend crocheting, but thankfully that is what the weekends are for, right.
I promised in my last post that I would add pictures of my sofa throw progress, so here it is, lovely and proud and deliciously blue and green. Ah really, there is so much love involved with this blanket. It's beginning to be big enough to warm my lap when I crochet it. It is now 19 rows longer since the last photos I shared.

Love is love is love.
I also spent some time this week getting my blue early-birthday-present Trethorn rubber boots dirty in our garden. My second or third time wearing them, looooove them!
My dear hubby has built little raised flower beds and redone the compost pile. My mom and I have been puttering around weeding and planting seeds etc and my dad has been doing all the jobs no one else wants to do, all the odds and ends. Bless him. So far, we are looking like this at the garden...

You can see the flower beds in this picture, some perennials but mostly annual flowers, picked for the vases since the garden is a short drive away. On the far left you can see a corner of our strawberry patch and the newly boxed in rose bed. We have the traditional roses, like Peace and Queen Elizabeth. I think we also have Romanze, which is a gorgeous dark pinkish red rose.
The perennials in front and center are irises, sweet Williams (?) and something else that I can't remember the name of. :)

As you can see, it's no wonder I've been envious of all the English bloggers I follow and their lovely gardens which had all the above already a month ago. Sigh, long winters here mean late springs...At least it's in bloom now!

Currants on their way to blooming :) Hopefully it's a good year so we get lots of juice!

Lily of the valley finally sprouting up!

Our chives and garlic, soon to be joined by a mini herb garden.

Pre-grown potatoes in cut up milk cartons, waiting to be planted...

And they did get planted... Happy thing it rained the following day.

Tulips that were a bit damaged by some nightly frosts. Fortunately they didn't take it too badly.

Our rhubarb on it's way. I've been pulling out recipes from magazines for pies and such already. :)

Me planting more sweet williams (bi-annual) and snapdragons. My mom and I love snapdragons!
(NOTE THE BOOTS!)

The garden area's pheasant. One of many. I have yet to see the female this spring, but instead we've seen two males walking around up to mischief with each other. Last year, Mr and Mrs Pheasant ate all the pea seeds we planted and in general they go around terrorizing gardens. But aren't they gorgeous?! I just love the colors and richness. I hope Mrs Pheasant has lots of cute pheasant babies. We saw them last year and my gosh they are cute. I am amazed at how tame these pheasants are though. Used to gardeners I guess.

That was the slight recap of my favoritest things. Dirt and yarn.
I also had the pleasure of enjoying a egg, bacon and cheese sandwich this morning, made by the breakfast king himself. I suppose it's not a coincidence he makes the best coffee, too.

And at the table, I have been enjoying the view of more daffodils and my yellow mushroom.

I must say, this blog is a great reminder of the happy things in life. It's a great way to be able to look back at the week here and exclude all the worries and BS that normal life is (feels like it's) consumed by and focus on all the things that happened that really made me happy. And all the pretty things I've been blessed to see. Like Mias Landliv post made me think, I also blog for selfish reasons but I think everyone else must too. Blogs are so personal even when you try to make them a bit less personal.

Well, this is all for me. It's a bit brisk out (windy) and sunny so it's off the patio for me to finally put soil in the planters and pots and think about all the lovely flowers (probably pansies knowing me) that I want to put in them. Or then have a cup of tea and crochet on the couch. Or then take the dogs out for a good walk. Or then, or then. In other words, thanks for reading and have a happy weekend! :)
