So blankets are IN during the summer time. Many many of the blogs I follow have in the past few days/week posted about their blankets and quilts. See Bunny Mummy's post or Foxs lane's post for example.
I too, have been bitten by the June blanket bug. One WIP blanket is not enough, I had to start another. My mom's wonderful friend offered to teach me the ways of quilting and I couldn't say no. So here she is, the new work in progress:
I'm positively smitten.
I'm doing a simple chess pattern of the two fabrics. They are both from my childhood and while it was a bit heart-wrenching to cut them up, I made myself think of how happy I'll be when I eventually finish the quilt. The square pattern is going to form the middle (196 squares total according to the plan) and then we'll see about edging. As with my other WIP blanket, that of the crochet variety, I don't want to stress about due dates. They'll get done when they get done. So I'll try to keep ya'll posted on my progress.
If you were wondering, the crochet blanket looks like this these days. Not many more rows, but maybe when I get time and pry myself away from the sewing machine (haha, yeah right), I'll get ahead with that, too.
I've also been in love with the scent of lily of the valley floating through the apartment.
I've been in love with the visit we took to the arboretum yesterday to be enchanted by the sight and smell of lilacs in bloom and the gorgeous apple trees.
I'm also loving the flea market find that my mom's friend from out of town picked up for me. She even brought apples to add the finishing touch. :)
I've also been loving the sunny weather and Mr. Bubba-Bear-Puppy-Boy being a good enough sport to let us take silly pictures of him.
I've also been loving our patio pansies (as well as my mom's) but there is so much photo love going on there, that it's going to be dedicated its own post. :) Something to look forward to. Heh heh.
So until next time, thanks for reading and happy week! :)
