vacation ramblings...

Ah, 5 days of vacation have passed and 4 more to be had. Tomorrow is a busy day indeed filled with photo fun with a good friend and then a puppy playdate with two of my friends who have little ones too. (Ahem, ok, so our bear isn't little. I know. But their dogs really are!)

As I write this, our little apartment (made considerably smaller by a new couch -- more in a minute!) is filled with the scent of ginger as we are making homemade ginger ale and candied ginger! Woohoo, it sounded super easy and cheap too, so we had to give it a go. If you are interested, I found out about it through Joy the Baker's post in which she linked to this blog's post. Awesomeness. Yup yup.

So, the couch. We actually came upon it thrift shopping earlier this week and it had a big old reserved ticket on it...so we were in the area today and though we'd see if they had filled the space with something new... but there it was! The couch we were so disappointed someone had scooped up before us. I guess their deal fell through or something, so we sat on it, opened it up (it's a pull out for our overnight guests, woo!) and within literally 10 minutes, we had paid for it. It cost 58.50 euros + 15 to get it to our place, what a steal! We soooo love it. It's in great condition and so much better than other couches that we have at some point or another considered. Spontaneous buys are always the best. Because you know you've bought something you either really love or you really need. In this case, both! :) (sorry for the crap picture)

Now we just need to move because we have NO ROOM to walk comfortably around...and yes, we are still having people over tomorrow, don't ask how we're gonna make it work. Lol!

But let's go back in time...to Wednesday. We took a trip to the garden, here is some photo love!

 Sunflowers!

Cucumber babies.

 Amazing pansies.

Velvet wishes it could pull off such a natural velvet look.

The most perfect delicate purple edging...

These last two pictures had me laughing... I thought I'd share the nettle that is growing in the ditch on the border of our garden...and try as I might, all the pictures ended up looking like we were growing a more illegal type substance... hahahah!
But seriously, this nettle sucks. It hurts so badly if you rub up on it accidentally.

Yesterday the hubster and I took a little walk to a park we don't frequent. Here is the photo love from there. :)

Pretty flowers and apples!

I also started to work on the back to the yellow and orange granny square pillow and took a picture of that...and completely forgot until now that I haven't shared the completed front to it! Next time, I will try to remember!

And because I love food so much, I'll share what I ate today for lunch. A tuna sub. Mmmhmm, bite this subway! Bakery (ok, grocery store bakery) garlic and cheese french bread, with tuna, mayo, tomato, red onion, bell pepper, pickle and lettuce filling. Woooo it was good. I could have eaten three of these. I gotta warm up for when we visit Florida in a couple months because I plan on eating a Publix sub every day we are there. They're the best ever. EVERRRR!

I'm sure I'll be back before too long, thanks for reading, have a nice weekend!
